Your Candidates. Your Health. Where America Stands
About the Project Text Size

More than 1,650 candidates for U.S Congress were invited by mail to respond to the Your Candidates–Your Health Voter Guide questionnaire. The initial mailing included candidates who had filed with their state election authorities by June 30, 2006. Candidates who filed after June 30 were subsequently contacted.

Each candidate received a letter explaining the initiative and a copy of the questionnaire. They were given the option of responding by fax, mail, e-mail or online at a secure Web site, www.yourcandidatesyourhealth.org. Each candidate was assigned a unique 6-digit password so that only they could access their online questionnaire.

Candidates' answers appear as they entered them online. Responses received by fax, mail and e-mail were entered in the online system as submitted. Candidates' responses were only reviewed for inappropriate content (e.g., profanity). Candidates were contacted and given the opportunity to edit their responses if content was deemed inappropriate. Responses received from candidates who are no longer running do not appear on this site.

Public Opinion Polling Methodology
Research!America commissioned a national public opinion poll conducted by Charlton Research Company. The poll was conducted by telephone (random-digit dialing) with a sample size of 800 adults and a margin of error of ±3.5 percent.
